Low-energy houses

The previous generation did not ask as many questions as we do when installing a stove.  Numerous factors have to be taken into account today, such as the air-tightness of the house, air-flow management etc.  How can we ensure we make the right choices?  Under what circumstances is the installation of an air inlet useful or essential?

It is quite simple :
  • on one hand, stoves consume air for combustion
  • on the other, homes are being made increasingly air-tight (for reasons of energy efficiency).
This situation seems to have resulted in deadlock.  However, once these two mechanisms are understood, it is much easier to find a solution suited to each situation.

The Stûv 16-in is fitted with an outside air inlet directly beneath the stove.  It is completely adapted to very air-tight homes, known as passive houses. Discuss this with your installation engineer, the key partner in your project.
