Under what circumstances is the installation of an air inlet useful or essential?

It is quite simple :

• on one hand, stoves consume air for combustion
• on the other, homes are being made increasingly air-tight (for reasons of energy efficiency).
  This situation seems to have resulted in deadlock.  However, once these two mechanisms are understood, it is much easier to find a solution suited to each situation.

The Stûv 30-up is fitted with an outside air inlet directly beneath the stove.  It is perfectly suited to very air-tight homes, known as passive houses. In France, it is compatible with  BBC-Effinergie.
